Lamiola
Our story
Lamiola Farm is situated in the heart of Valle d’Itria, a few kilometres far from the residential zone of Martina Franca (TA). It dates back to Middle Ages and the name of its place takes origin from a small master’s house, built in the 19th century, called “Lamiòle” in the local dialect (a rural building different from the typical trullo, which is made up of stone and closed with a plain ceiling). The original owners were Mr. Desiati and his family, who possessed also other farms of the area. Unfortunately the original structure doesn’t exist anymore except for a little church, which stood next to the master’s house. Since the 19th century, we have been producing extra virgin olive oil, wheat, fava beans and fodder and we used to breed Murgesi donkeys (typical donkeys from Martina Franca), cows, sheeps, goats and pigs. This production stopped during the’90s of the last century. The farm has been completely restored and renovated thanks to Michele, passionate owner and proud lover of our land and its valours. Nowadays we continue to produce durum wheat Senatore Cappelli, fava beans and extra virgin olive oil. The company offers its high quality products to a demanding, attentive and well-informed clientele. We follow all the procedures that are provided from the managing authority for organic production in cultivation and farming. Currently, the company is working for an organic conversion, even if cultivation has always been organic thanks to the owners, who have cultivated for 35 years without any sort of chemical fertiliser or supplement.
